Online video sessions

I have been working online via video since March 2020 and I have loved and appreciated the power and potential of this new way of working.

Both clients and I have been pleasantly surprised by how the holding field, which is at the heart of the therapy work, as well as the intention of contact can be felt online. Online sessions have been found by everyone who is working in this way, therapists and clients, to be as powerful and effective as in person work.

Working online also offers new opportunities for healing to be more embodied and integrated in present life, besides the benefit of being able to access therapy from wherever you are and be in your own space at the end of the session, without needing to travel.

I continue learning and developing new ways to support online process through my own sessions as well as being an assistant on a series of online pre and perinatal trainings.

I currently offer online sessions via video as a regular part of my practice and I work with people anywhere in the UK and Europe.

Online video sessions integrate:

  • biodynamic craniosacral therapy skills

  • somatic prenatal and birth therapy

  • inner child journey process

  • mindful somatic enquiry using the felt sense, verbal and relational skills.

Practical information about having online sessions

  • A computer (preferably) or mobile phone.
A good Internet connection (good enough to stream Netflix).
A private and quiet space to connect from, where you won't be disturbed for the duration of the session.

  • I use the secure platform Zoom for all my online work. You can download it prior to your first session if you haven't already got it. All instructions will be sent to you after booking.

At the time of your session I will send you an email with a link to a Zoom ‘meeting’. Click on the link and a video will open up and I’ll be there to welcome you.

At the end of the session you can Leave the meeting (as if you were leaving the therapy room) and the video will close.

  • I invite you to create a ‘therapy space’ for yourself.
Have a place where you can sit as comfortably as possible – a comfy chair, sofa or on the floor. You may also want to have a space to lie down for part of the session if appropriate, but this is not essential. Have tissues, a glass of water and a blanket. You could light a candle or incense – or do anything that may connect you to a sense of resource and wellness.

Being in the same space every week may help creating consistency and holding for you process in your space.

  • I will be in my home therapy room.

  • The format of an online session is the same as it would be in person.

At the beginning we settle together and talk about what is important for you and what your intention for the session is. Then I will support you to resource and ground.

From there we will explore what wants to be heard, witnessed, held and completed. You may decide to sit up or lie down, depending on what we are working with. Throughout the session I will support you to be present with what is happening and together we will track the sensations and felt sense in your body. At times I may ask you to make contact with parts of your body in the way I would do if we were in the room together. We may use the space you are in as part of the process that wants to be expressed.

As the session comes to an end, we will sit back together and check in with what is important and what needs to be acknowledged to help complete your process.

I will then help you end the video connection mindfully, thinking about how you can support your transition out of the session back to your home/family life and creating a bit of space as you would do after leaving my therapy room.

  • It happens. The door bell might ring, your child might need you, cats and dogs might like to be in the session (they do love this work!). The way I work enables 'interruptions' to be included in the session as information about your own process that we can then work with.

  • If you were to lose connection during the session, you can leave the meeting and click again on the link I sent you to re-join the meeting. This usually sorts out any connection issues.

If you cannot reconnect on Zoom, you can send me a text on my mobile phone and I’ll suggest what we can do. We will either try reconnecting on Zoom or continue the session on the phone.
