What happens in a craniosacral therapy session?
As you arrive we will settle together and take some time to explore what you are bringing to the session.
I will then ask you to sit or lie on a massage table, fully clothed. I will make light contact with my hands on various parts of your body – typically feet, head, and lower back – and I will ‘listen’ to what is going on in your body and notice where there are areas of restriction which may be holding physical or emotional trauma. Through a gentle touch I will support your body to release tension or pain, in a way that respects the natural rhythm of your system.
As we are working, you may become aware of various sensations in the body, like heat, tingling, pulsations. Feelings and emotions may also come up as traumatic forces are processed and I will help you stay present and hold them with kindness so that things can resolve at a deep level.
How will I feel after a session?
Most people find receiving craniosacral sessions to be very pleasant and deeply relaxing. You will generally feel more grounded at the end of a session and may also feel you have more energy. Or you may feel you need to rest after a treatment to allow the body to complete the process started in the session.
The changes happening in craniosacral therapy can be very powerful but subtle and people recognise changes in their bodies long after a session has finished.
How many sessions will I need?
This will depend on what brings you to craniosacral therapy, how long it has been with you and what your intention for the work is. The first session will be an opportunity for us to see how we can work together.
I recommend to start with 6 weekly sessions to allow time for our relationship to settle and for you to start feeling safe and deepen into the work. After that, we can review how the work is going and then continue with weekly (or fortnightly) sessions as needed.
Many of the people I work with choose to come for regular sessions over a number of months or years to explore and resolve deep-seated old/early trauma held in the body or to maintain a strong sense of well-being.
What are your session fees?
Adults (initial session – 75 min): £65
Adults (subsequent sessions – 60 min): £55
Mums and Babies / Children (60 min): £55
How can I pay?
Payment is taken at the time of the session. Please cash or cheques only.
What happens if I need to cancel a session?
If you are unable to attend a session please let me know as soon as possible and with at least 24 hours notice. Late cancellations with less than 24 hours notice and missed appointments will be charged the full fee.
